I am the fourth of five children to the late George and Mary Bernadette Wilson Bonnar. Raised in Castle Shannon, I attended grade school at Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Parish and was a member of the first graduating class of Seton LaSalle High School. I received a B.A. in Social Communication from Duquesne University and an STB from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. I have served as a parochial vicar at Saint Vitus, New Castle, Saint Rosalia, Greenfield and Saint Thomas More, Bethel Park.
Rev. David J. Bonnar - Pastor
For one year I was part-time chaplain at Central Catholic High School. My first pastorate was at Saint Bartholomew, Penn Hills. I have worked in Central Administration of the Diocese of Pittsburgh as Rector of Saint Paul Seminary, Director of Pre-Ordination Formation, Director of Vocations and Director of the Permanent Diaconate Program.
My most recent assignment was as Secretary for Parish Life and Ministerial Leadership and Vicar for Clergy. I love being a priest. I enjoy golf and was lucky enough some years ago to score a hole-in-one. I am an avid runner who enjoys music, particularly smooth jazz and country. My favorite food is pasta. One of my dreams is to have a book I wrote published. I am very happy to return to my South Hills roots and be Pastor of Saint Bernard Parish.
