We are a Pittsburgh area community of single and married young adult Catholics in our 20’s and 30’s. We come together to learn and grow in our Catholic faith, to worship together, to socialize and form friendships, to serve others, and to be a living example to other young adult Catholics in the Pittsburgh area.
Young Adult Ministry at St. Bernard's is a ministerial outreach to single and married adults in their twenties and thirties with a Roman Catholic focus.
Catholic Young Adult Ministry was initiated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in November 1996. The USCCB released a pastoral plan for young adult Ministry titled Sons and Daughters of the Light in response to young adults who approached them with their needs and concerns about the Church.
At St. Bernard's, we are responding to the challenge given to us by the NCCB to effectively minister to young adults by working towards the following goals:
•connecting young adults with Jesus Christ
•connecting young adults with the Church
•connecting young adults with the mission of the Church in the world
•connecting young adults with a peer community
We work towards these goals by using the following objectives:
•Gather and share information.
•Provide diverse young adult programming
•Inform young adults of events and activities through various media
•Develop and make available resources for young adults
•Provide meaningful liturgical experiences
•Advocate for young adults
